Hello! Apparently no-one here at Delicode has yet to come here to offer our thanks for the fine library.
NI mate 2, released in 2015 as a successor to NI mate 1, added Spout support for Windows computers. We already earlier used the similar library, Syphon, on OS X. NI mate spawns child processes that are used for retrieving data from depth sensors (such as Microsoft Kinect), and Spout is used for transferring the live feeds faster to the master process. A slower method we used earlier involved using the hard drive for transferring the feeds since IPC is not always an option.
In addition, NI mate also uses Spout for offering a general purpose live feed for users so that they can process it in any external software. People mostly use them for live art installations and similar use cases.
